As you listen you can feel the descending gloom, the blotting out of the sun, the emergence of hungry ghosts from the void. It’s a chilling song, with a hard edge of violence in the rabid vocals and the frenzied riffs, but with the shroud of a frigid void blanketing the music through the sweeping movement of panoramic melody across its surging energy, and the twinkling of distant stars manifested in the sparkling keyboard notes.
Unexpectedly (unless you’ve heard previous releases by the band), the song also soars, with lofting clean vocals helping to morph the music into a glorious vision, as if we’ve come out the other side of the eclipse. And the song is so well-written that this emergence feels like part of the natural flow of things rather than a jarring change. It’s a magical transformation.
lyrics
You live in sorrow
Turn your gaze to the void
You are nothing, weightless
Float into the cosmic sea
You've lived years in isolation
Wandering still into the night
Seeking solace
Of immeasurable hope
Light the flames
Into the black abyss
Nocturnal dominion
Is lust and darkness
Looming in Deaths perception
Dreaming Dementia
Nocturnal Dominion
Light the flames
Into the black abyss
Nocturnal dominion
Is Lust and darkness
Looming in deaths perception
Dreaming Dementia
Nocturnal Dominion
I’ve stared into the void for too long.
Consumed, entranced and forgotten of my past.
Trapped into the depths of reality, I know what’s left of me.
Further into the transmundane, the tides of fate show mercy.

This is my favorite metal album of all time. The only bad thing is that the vocals are somewhat buried in the mix. Otherwise, the record perfectly blends a mix of metal genres with excellent songcraft. A record you'll listen to again and again. The Real Nick House

I'd say Havukruunu is the rightful holder of the Crown and the mantle of Quorthon. Epic choirs, vikingesque themes and tales from the other times, of the Finnish paganism back in the days before our ancestors were brought to the cross and forced to kneel while feeling the bloody sword of saviour on their throats made to kiss the hand of murderers who burnt thousands, tore down our holy places and took our holy days. Eyes teary I listen to these songs, never forgiving the crimes of the cross! Peikonmieli
Joseph Hawker subverts the musical and sociopolitical status quo with a black metal triptych that's as incendiary as it is impressionistic. Bandcamp New & Notable Jan 5, 2022
